Art
In her atelier Taftique in Florence, Dutch fiber artist Jules Vissers translates traditional and innovative textile techniques into modern artworks. After Jules graduated Cum Laude in Art Textiles at the Florence Art Academy in 2020, she started her career as a professional fiber artist. In 2024 she received the European Textile & Craft Award 2024 by the European Textile Academy in Bolzano.
Jules combines hand-tufting with other techniques such as embroidery, punch needle, felting, fiber emballage, weaving, tatting and crochet. In her work she tries to express movement – and thus life – through the interaction of colour, form and texture. The fragility of life is a recurring theme in her work. Fragility not intended as a negative aspect but as the magic of our and nature’s existence, a core element that demands respect.
